FAQ(s)

What is Well-Being Coaching?

A well-being coach is someone who has rigorously trained and is certified to focus specifically on improving mental & emotional well-being. We co-create strategies to manage your stress, concerns in your life and enhance your overall emotional functioning. This can incorporates areas of life such as finances, relationships, personal development and career and professional goals. It is different from Life Coaching as their focus, although may be similar, their methodology is not often science-backed. The Wave coaching certification program trains their coaches to be competent in areas of scientifically proven interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) models as well as Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Transtheoretical Model of change (TTM).

What is Transformational and Existential Coaching?

Transformational and existential coaching empowers clients to rewrite their reality. It goes deep. It’s not about quick fixes or temporary solutions, but about diving into the core of your challenges and obstacles. Partnering these two styles of coaching help to build self-trust and self-belief. It is a more exploratory process than transactional coaching and is perfect for individuals seeking personal growth, a way to let go of the past, exploring their purpose and direction (including career changes), and developing confidence to transition to a new life beyond...

Together we get to the root of why you do what you do. Instead of simple goal setting, you get to the why you are setting the goal and imagine how you will be better for it. This sets the stage for lasting change.

What is hypnosis? What can I expect?

Hypnotherapy is a voluntary process. You have free will prior to induction and will continue to have the choice to stop at any time during the session. To understand hypnosis, is to understand the workings of the conscious & subconscious mind. The conscious mind is our command center (telling our body how to act or respond) while our subconscious mind (autonomic nervous system) is the database that stores all of our memories, imagination, emotions and feelings. The subconscious recalls moments that can instill creativity and inspiration just as easy as it can recall a memory of a previous threat or fear (fight/flight/freeze). Regardless, the subconscious mind sends signals to the conscious mind that puts us in action or may prevent us from acting or react against our best interest depending on the recall. What is important to know is...you will ALWAYS do what your subconscious mind tells your conscious mind to do.

Hypnosis puts the conscious mind to the side via relaxation inductions (guided meditation) allowing a window to open to the subconscious mind. It is at that moment that positive suggestions co-created by you and your hypnotist compose (in a language that it will understand) are spoken aloud; it is essentially a conversation with your subconscious mind that will create new neuropathways that lead to NEW ideas and influence positive behavioral change. We will change what you say to yourself and the visual images you recall; ultimately changing your mindset and your outcomes. You can expect lasting transformation, the ability to overcome obstacles, accessing subconscious solutions, unlocking your potential, building and strengthening resilience, and fulfilling your purpose.  Coming out of hypnosis is likened to awakening from a refreshing nap. Although restful and revitalizing, there is homework to be done in between your hypnosis sessions. Come eager to get to work!

Am I a Good Candidate for Hypnosis?

Anyone can be hypnotized although hypnosis isn't for everyone. Hypnosis is not effective if an individual is resistant to engaging in the process and/or is resistant to the idea of change. In order for the process to work, you must be a willing participant who is eager to do the change work. Other cases of incompatibility: individuals under the influence of recreational drugs and/or alcohol, those with known and diagnosed psychotic or personality disorders, as well as individuals with cognitive problems caused by traumatic brain injury (TBI), intelligence or use of heavy pharmaceuticals. The frail/elderly population is also not recommended for hypnosis due to possible disorientation.

Can I be hypnotized in online sessions?

YES! Absolutely. Hypnosis is easily done virtually as long as you can be in a secure, private, comfortable, and quiet space. It is recommended that you use headphones or earbuds to block out any external distractions and bring your primary focus to our conversation and the hypnotic process. We will engage in a few suggestibility activities on our first session to determine how you may respond, give you a sense of what hypnosis will feel like and what you can expect.

What is the Difference Between Therapy and  Well-Being Coaching?

A well-being coach helps you achieve personal goals and improve your well-being by guiding you through self-discovery and developing practical strategies that are effective in real-life situations. The primary difference between coaching and therapy is that a licensed therapist can diagnose and provide formal treatment for diagnosed mental health conditions. Well-being coaching can be a supportive tool for anyone including those who have completed therapy and are needing some assistance implementing goals identified with their therapist.

Am I a Good Candidate for Hypno-Coaching?

Hypno-coaching is fantastic resource for anyone who is ready to make or welcome change in their lives but requires guidance/support/direction. It's OK to come to coaching not knowing exactly WHAT you want or need. What is important and makes coaching most effective is that you are READY for CHANGE and you are open to inviting NEW into your life.
